Mit La Marche, einer historischen Landschaft in Mittelfrankreich, machten vor gut 10 Jahren diese Musiker ihre Liebe zu französischen Klängen deutlich. Im Laufe der Bandgeschichte kamen ihnen aber dann auch Balkanbeats, Ska, Funk und Reggae in die Quere, sodass daraus ein Stilmix entstand, der nach einem erklärenden Untertitel verlangte:
ZickenUmpa (!)
Dieser von der Band selbst kreierte Titel ist markant und poetisch, aber ebenso uneindeutig. Humppa oder auch Umpa, in den 1930er Jahren als Foxtrott gestartet, mischt sich heute mit Elementen aus Polka, Punk und Rock. Wie, wo und wann jetzt die Zicken noch ins Spiel kommen, das lässt sich nur durch einen lustvollen Selbstversuch ergründen. Aber Achtung: Wer bei dieser Band nicht tanzt, tanzt nie.

La Marche, a county in central France of the Middle Ages, is the name of this band whose love of France first brought them together over ten years ago. The course of their musical adventures have also led them to explore and embrace Balkan beats, ska, funk und reggae – and the result is a mix that demanded a name of its own: Zickenumpa (!) a label the band came up with themselves, which might need explaining. Humppa is a fast and jazzy Finnish foxtrot from the early days of the 20th century, which in the course of time crossed paths with polka, punk and rock. An official explanation for the bit about the “Zicken” – German for goat, a moody girl or bitch – is still outstanding, but maybe it doesn’t require one. So try it out and see – and be warned: if you can’t dance to this band, you never can will.

Poprzez La Marche, krajobrazem historycznym, przed 10 laty muzycy ci wyrazili swoją miłość do brzmienia francuskiego. Podczas swojej aktywności natknęli się również na brzmienia bałkańskie, ska, funk i reggae, z czego powstało połączenie stylów, które wymagało wiele znaczącego podtytułu: ZickenUmpa (!) (KozieUmpa)
Ten wykreowany przez sam zespół tytuł jest wyróżniający się i poetycki, ale jednocześnie niejednoznaczny. Humppa lub też Umpa, zapoczątkowany w latach 30-tych zeszłego stulecia jako fokstrot, miesza się dziś z elementami polki, punku i rocka. Jak, gdzie i kiedy do tego wszystkiego doszły kozy, można jedynie stwierdzić na podstawie ekstatycznego eksperymentu na samym sobie. Ale uwaga: Kto nie tańczy przy tej muzyce – nie zatańczy nigdy.
